Jodie Fernandes

Soprano, Jodie-Marie Fernandes, is a devoted learner and performer of music. An alumna of MIT, she regularly performs as a soloist with the MIT Concert Choir, most recently, in Vaughan Williams’ Dona Nobis Pacem and Britten’s Cantata Academica.

 

Jodie has given public recitals, most prominently as a co-founder of the recital series “Through the Looking Glass”. The series featured free chamber music performances by Longy School of Music alumni around the Boston area. By design, performances included miniature lectures to draw listeners in and reveal tidbits about art songs in German, Russian and French.

 

Ms. Fernandes has performed as soloist for over a decade, including with the renowned Bachakademie Stuttgart in Germany, Exultet Chorus in Minneapolis, Minnesota, & as a regular artist with the MIT Concert Choir in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Her solo repertoire includes JS Bach’s BWV 227 (Jesu meine Freude ), Dvorak’s The Spectre’s Bride, Brahms’ German Requiem, Handel's Messiah, Poulenc's Stabat Mater, Mozart's / Süssmayer's Requiem, Mass in C by Beethoven, Mass in G minor by Vaughan Williams, and Mass in B-flat by Haydn. She has been a member of the Tanglewood Festival Chorus for 7 years.

 

Jodie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and a Graduate Performance Diploma in vocal performance from Longy School of Music in Cambridge, MA.
