This August, Cappella Clausura is thrilled to introduce the limited series "Do You Know Her?" as part of our educational initiatives. With this series, we hope to expose our audiences to a range of female composers throughout history and celebrate their often overlooked achievements.
By the end of the month, we’ll have shown a spotlight on four remarkable women: Vittoria Aleotti, Fanny Mendelssohn, Rebecca Clarke, and Ethel Smyth. These composers span centuries and genres, and are just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to musical mavericks. Join us in examining their lives and works and let us know what other female composers– contemporary or classical– you'd like us to investigate.
Our first post on Vittoria Aleotti drops on August 10th, so stay tuned!
